War Memorial Fields Trust

The Trust was established after World War I from money that was raised to support returning servicemen and women. With the money that was raised the Memorial Fields were purchased as a recreation ground.

The Trust is a charity whose object “is in the interests of social welfare, to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants of the area of benefit without distinction of political, religious or other opinions by the provision and maintenance of a recreation ground.”

The fields are now well used for general recreation, football and cricket and there is a pavilion and changing rooms on the site.

Currently a preschool group use the pavilion during weekdays and it is used by the sports clubs and other organisations at weekends and in the evenings.

The Mountsorrel Revival event held in August makes full use of the fields with many stalls and activities.

For further information about use of the fields or the pavilion please contact Mountsorrel Parish Council.
